Morning at the Gorge

Morning at the Gorge by Anita Blythe Original Oil Paintings, Oil, 11 x 14
$575.00 USD

"Morning at the Gorge" was painted on location at the Rio Grande Gorge in Taos, New Mexico.

This is a favorite place of mine to paint.  The Rio Grande Gorge is in Northern New Mexico.  This area of the state was recently made a National Monument : The RÍo Grande del Norte National Monument.  It is comprised of rugged, wide open plains at an average elevation of 7,000 feet, dotted by volcanic cones, and cut by steep canyons with rivers tucked away in their depths. The RÍo Grande carves an 800 foot deep gorge through layers of volcanic basalt flows and ash.

It is a location I have painted many times.  Each time it is challenging - but, I enjoy the challenge.

This painting is painted "alla prima" with a palette knife.  It is painted on a canvas panel.  I will sign it on the front and back of the panel.

Original oil.  Only 1 available.
